Software-for-hardware   (French Equivalent: Logiciel-matériel)

DefinitionA type of emulation that simulates a program's native hardware environment on a machine that it was never intended to run on. For example, a program running the 2000 Windows operating system might emulate the microprocessor of a 1985 Amiga computer, enabling users to play a vintage video game such as Pong on a contemporary operating system.
