2007 Seminar: Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage
The second DOCAM seminar, Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage, was held at the Centre for Research and Documentation (CR+D) of the Daniel Langlois Foundation and at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) from January 9 to April 17, 2007. The seminar was instructed by Sylvie Lacerte, coordinator of the DOCAM research alliance and was also developed by Louise Poissant, Dean of the Faculty of Arts (UQAM) and president of the DOCAM Pedagogical Committee (2007):

« Étude de cas : Body Movies Relational Architecture No.6 par Raphael Lozano-Hemmer » par Catherine Fortin
Cette étude de cas portant sur l’installation Body Movies Relational Architecture no.6 de Rafael Lozano-Hemmer met en perspective les problèmes de documentation et de conservation des arts médiatiques. En effet, elle diffère des cas d’oeuvres appartenant à des musées puisque cette oeuvre est une installation éphémère, nécessitant la participation d’un public et appartenant encore à l’artiste. Néanmoins, cette problématique soulève de nombreux questionnements auxquels nous tenterons de répondre.
« Les différentes versions de Machine for Taking Time de David Rokeby » par Ariane Noël de Tilly
En 2001, l’artiste canadien David Rokeby a reçu une commande des Oakville Galleries pour réaliser une oeuvre qui établirait un rapport avec le jardin adjacent à l’un des pavillons des galeries. L’artiste a alors créé une oeuvre in situ, Machine for Taking Time. Au printemps 2006, le commissaire Peter Ride a emprunté un fragment de cette oeuvre pour la présenter dans l’exposition Timeless – Time, Landscape and New Media.
