Definition | Rotation mode applied to all magnetic disc drives. A format for optical disk recording of video signals in which the same number of video frames are recorded on each revolution of the disk over the whole recording surface, even though constant data density would allow more near the outer edge. The disc is formatted as a series of sectors. The outer sectors contain the same amount of information as the inner sectors but they are longer. Consequently, the disc rotates at a higher speed during the reading of the outer sectors. Having the data aligned by angle over the disk facilitates special effects like freeze frame and slow motion. http://www.granddictionnaire.ca |
